BREWED VICTORY: San Miguel Beermen serve a cold ending to Converge FiberXers in PBA showdown
In a night filled with roaring cheers from the fans and clutch moments from the players, the San Miguel Beermen pulled off a turnaround to defeat the Converge FiberXers, 96–90, in an epic PBA Philippine Cup showdown last Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo. Converge surged with San Miguel trailing by 41–29 in the second quarter before the Beermen closed the first half with an 18–8 run to pull them within a 47–49 2-point difference at the break. Following in the third quarter, San Miguel took its first lead, 69–66, and carried that momentum with the slim margin into the fourth quarter and was ready for a late surge. June Mar Fajardo led the way for San Miguel with 24 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks on 10-for-15 shooting as he reasserted his dominance on the court. Tiongson erupted with 14 points in the final frame, attaining 4-for-8 field goals from the floor, including two threes, which helped open up an 11-point lead for the Beermen into the fourth quarter. Schonny Winston led the FiberXers off the bench with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists as Justin Arana and Justine Baltazar had strong double-double efforts, Arana's 19 points and 10 rebounds, along with Baltazar's 14 points and 19 rebounds. With all the drama that unfolded through the night, it would be San Miguel's comeback sealed at Antipolo, proving once again that even when it seems the script is written for the underdogs, the reigning champs still hold the final laugh.
