PLDT High Speed Hitters moved within a win of securing bronze in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference after defeating the Farm Fresh Foxies, 22–25, 25–21, 27–25, 26–28, 15–11, in Game 1 on Tuesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Farm Fresh forced a fifth set after rallying from an 18–22 deficit in the fourth behind key plays from Trisha Tubu, Royse Tubino, and Ces Molina.
Then, Savi Davison delivered the crucial push in the decider, scoring four of the team’s last five points to erase a 10–all tie and forge a 14–10 lead before finally sealing the win.
Davison led PLDT with 33 points built on 30 attacks and three blocks, while Kim Fajardo directed the offense with 36 excellent sets.
Three players also notched double digits as Kianna Dy, Mika Reyes and Majoy Baron reeled off 16, 13, and 10 markers, respectively.
Alleiah Malaluan nabbed 11 points, 21 excellent receptions and 12 digs, while Libero Kath Arado recorded 27 digs and 24 excellent receptions despite a swollen hand.
On the other hand, Tubu paced the Foxies with 30 points, while Molina had 15 and Tubino and Mylene Paat chipped in nine apiece.
PLDT eyes for a masterful performance as they aim for a series-clinching win in Game 2.
