President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced on Tuesday, September 2, that the formation of an independent commission to probe the country’s flood control projects will be finalized “very, very soon.”
In an ambush interview in Zambales, Marcos was asked to confirm whether Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong had been appointed as a member of the commission.
“I don’t want to talk about it until it’s complete. We haven’t finalized the plan yet… but it’s coming soon, very, very soon,” he told reporters.
In a separate media interview on Monday, Marcos also said the government is preparing an executive order to establish the independent commission, which will recommend the necessary sanctions for those proven to be involved in suspicious flood control projects.
